Worship for the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost and Holy Communion Sunday, starts tomorrow at 10 am in the sanctuary and live streamed on Facebook and YouTube.

The Men's Prayer Call is a sacred space where brothers can share and explore their relationship with God in Christ Jesus. All brothers are encouraged to join. The call will be every Monday Morning from 7:30 am – 7:45 am on Zoom.

Train up your child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it. Church School meets each Sunday morning at 8:30 am, and concludes at 10am in Douglass Hall. There are classes available for EVERYONE! We will be excited to see you in attendance!

 

Save the dates for Metropolitan's Fall 2024 Bible Study

September 18 - November 20, 2024

During Noon Study the Metropolitan Ministerial staff will facilitate sessions covering Living the Questions of the Bible by Luke Powery. At 7pm, we will study women in the Bible. This study will be lead by Rev. Dr. Shively Smith and Dr. Dana A Williams and will feature guest lecturers throughout. 

 

The Metropolitan AME Veterans Council is a ministry that supports military service members, veterans, and their families by providing information and prayerful support.  All service members, veterans, and family members are invited to attend.  Join us on the second Wednesday of each month at 6pm.  For more information, please contact Dr. Bryon L. Author and journalist Dorothy Butler Gilliam - September 13th at 11am, for “Reparations Now”. Ms. Gilliam will be joined by a prestigious panel of leading experts and activists will discuss merging actions for a collaborative way to address disproportionate poverty in African American communities. They will discuss methods for the U.S. government to make good on broken promises of compensation, such as 40 acres and a mule.

The Young Adult ministry at Metropolitan AME Church is excited to announce our September 14th art tour at 12pm for The Exodus 35 Series, led by Sis. Khaleelah I. L. Harris. Foundations of Christian Leadership at Duke Divinity has awarded Rev. Thomas Brackeen a $15,000 Reflective Leadership Grant. Over the next year or more, Rev. Brackeen will visit several metropolitan cities to research urban youth ministry practices at predominantly Black churches in downtown areas, exploring opportunities for growth and innovation while allowing time for reflection, time away, and rest.


“Leadership Education aims to create lasting change in U.S. congregations by supporting Christian leaders and the institutions they serve. Leadership Education designs educational services, develops intellectual resources and facilitates networks of institutions that cultivate a coherent vision of Christian institutional leadership and form Christian leaders. Leadership Education is a non-degree-granting initiative of Duke Divinity School funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. and based in Durham, NC.”

 

“These individuals have been selected to receive a Reflective Leadership Grant from Leadership Education at Duke Divinity. These grants of up to $15,000 support an opportunity for structured reflection for leaders of Christian organizations that are advancing their mission in the midst of today's rapidly changing context.
