NOVEMBER 3, 2024, Join us for a special Pre-Election Worship as we come together to reflect, pray, and prepare for the pivotal Election Day on November 5th. This is a moment that calls for our collective voice and action in pursuit of justice. Let us ready our hearts and minds for this important civic duty. After the service, you are invited to stay for a phone banking session to help mobilize voters in our community. Together, we can do the work of justice!

 

On Sunday, November 10th, we will observe Donor Sabbath during morning service and immediately after service in Douglass Hall for a discussion with Bernardine (Dine) Watson, award winning author of Transplant: A Memoir, Joseph Melancon, M.D., Professor of Surgery, George Washington University and Chief, Transplant Institute and Division of Transplant Surgery, and Medical Director, Ron and Joy Paul Kidney Center (invited), led by our own Dr. Dana Williams.  Please join the Lorraine Gillian, M.D. Health Commission in partnership with Infinite Legacy's African American Outreach Task Force for this important and informative discussion that will address health, social, and economic issues that disproportionately impact our community.  Transplant: A Memoir will be available for purchase.

The Men's Prayer Call is a sacred space where brothers can share and explore their relationship with God in Christ Jesus. All brothers are encouraged to join. The call will be every Monday Morning from 7:30 am – 7:45 am on Zoom.

Train up your child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it. Church School meets each Sunday morning at 8:30 am, and concludes at 10am in Douglass Hall. There are classes available for EVERYONE! We will be excited to see you in attendance!

 

Metropolitan's Fall 2024 Bible Study continues this week.

September 18 - November 20, 2024

During Noon Study the Metropolitan Ministerial staff will facilitate sessions covering Living the Questions of the Bible by Luke Powery.



At 7pm, we will study women in the Bible. This study will be lead by Rev. Dr. Shively Smith and Dr. Dana A Williams and will feature guest lecturers throughout. To receive course materials register for 7pm study here: https://bit.ly/these-3-women-bible-study


 

Join our club and sign up for the upcoming FALL 2024 session of Girls Who Code, a free learning program. Our GWC club fosters sisterhood along with teaching coding programs such as HTML, CSS, Java Script, Scratch and Python. Sessions conclude November 16th, 11am to 12pm on Saturdays. WIN Interfaith Gathering: Reservoirs of Hope   

This event is an opportunity for people of all backgrounds, faith traditions, and people who believe in the common good to gather together to reflect, pray, and center ourselves on the values that sustain us amid the uncertainty and pain within our nation and our world. We will gather to create a space where we can be together as a radical act of resistance to the divide-and-conquer strategies we so often see in our world. We will hear reflections from different faith traditions that offer us sustenance for our spirits and nourishment for the local organizing work that is ahead.  Register using the button below.


 

The Met Dance Ministry has officially begun rehearsals for this year's exciting performances! Our dancers are preparing for the Church School Homecoming and Christmas programs, and we are thrilled to welcome both returning and new students to join us.

The Sarah Allen Missionary Society Food Bank of the Metropolitan AME Church announces in-person food bank operations will be held on Saturday, November 23rd from 9 am to 3 pm.  The SAMS Food Bank is also accepting new food bank recipients.
