With Me in Paradise
Have you ever pondered the identity of the two criminals and their interaction with Jesus on the cross?
God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16
Whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. John 3:36
Jesus said, “It is my Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life and be raised up at the last day." -John 6:40
Jesus also said, “If you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins." -John 8:24
Jesus was crucified on the cross along with two criminals, one on his right and one on his left. -Luke 23:32-33
The one on the right was named Dismas, and Gestas was on the left. The crowd and Gestas heaped insults at Jesus to come down from the cross and save himself. Jesus said, “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." -Luke 23:34
Dismas repented and said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." -Luke 23:42
Jesus answered Dismas and said, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” -Luke 23:43
Paradise is a land of luxury, where you will find contentment, happiness, peace, and eternal life.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, bring to our remembrance that you came to save us from our sins so that we might have eternal life. Amen.
