Lessons Learned
During the past two years, it is likely that each of us has participated in a celebration of life, a homegoing, a time to say the final goodbye to loved ones, family, friends, beloved ancestors, or others we may have admired from afar; be they respected public servants or celebrities. On these occasions, I become reflective as I listen to the accolades, the memories, and insights about the unique, often untold, gifts each person possessed and used in ways to bless others.
What about that person’s life will I most remember and embrace as a life lesson for me? In every person we love, meet, or encounter, there is a learning opportunity to see God’s divine plan.
We can learn from the lives of others to see the love of Jesus. We can learn grace, humility, sacrifice, generosity, purpose, and peace. We can learn how God shows His love through the inspiring, teachable lives of everyday people.
Prayer
Dear Lord, Thank you for the testimonies of the celebrated lives we have known. Most of all, thank you for the gift of Jesus Christ who lived a life of sacrifice, for his dying and resurrection to offer us eternal life. Thank you for your great love toward us. Amen
