“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil...”
Psalm 23: 4 NRSVUE
Eleventh Day After Christmas
The older I get the harder it is to mend old fences. I also see that some fences will never get
mended. Life is taking me on a journey that has imprinted the good, bad, blessed and everything
in between. Romans 8:28 instructs that God can use it for good. These experiences will impact
me for many years and the work is stressful. I don’t know about you, but I’m not a good sufferer,
loser or a patient person.
We must deepen our understanding to walk the path of discipline (Hebrews 12:10). As our lives
are crafted it will get tough. As we fail, succeed and learn, our resolve strengthens. No matter
how strange the task or how difficult the day to day is, we are being refined to shine brightly like
a diamond (1 Peter 1:6–7).
Love when they are mean, difficult and downright wrong. Open your heart to be able to rise
above it. God knows your heart and will take care of you.

Prayer: Dear God, I thank you that as I look back on my life, I can often see the ways in which
you have used the hard times. Thank you that your words are more precious than thousands of
pieces of silver and gold. Amen
