“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 KJV
December 21, 2023
Advent is perhaps the most wonderful season of the liturgical calendar year. It is dedicated to
hope and high anticipation of the arrival of our Redeemer Jesus the Christ. In Christ, God is
offering us everything we need to remain anchored from day to day. In Christ we have his
presence, peace, eternal life and righteousness. During Advent, I remind you to pause and give
thanks – stop and ponder and embrace the awesomeness of the gift of Christ -- the living God
and his son. Christmas, “Christ,” our earthly treasure and our response to a fallen world that has
no hope.
So, in joyfulness and gratitude let us open our hearts and spirits and rid ourselves of the clutter
and chaos that we have endured this year and recapture the meaning of the season. Let us behold
the one who came down from heaven to live, love and embrace us in our sinful state. Jesus came
for us that we might experience the unforgettable gift of Christ.

Prayer: Gracious Father, the giver of all good gifts: for your greatest gift of Christ, we give
thanks. Touch and refill our hearts with his spirit that we may experience the real love and
sacrifice that he gave just for us. In Jesus’ name Amen.
