“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down [...] shall men give into your
bosom.”
Luke 6:38 NRSVUE
Third Day After Christmas
Have you ever received a present and immediately assumed you knew what was inside? In life,
we all have moments when we feel like we never get what we truly desire.
One thing is for certain; two things for sure: what is destined for each of us, God will bless us
with in His perfect timing, and this is never more evident than during Christmas. In this season
God presents us with the gift of Himself in our Savior Jesus the Christ.
In our moments of Christmastime reflection, thoughts of self should disappear. Our focus should
turn to people and things that truly matter, as Jesus does for us. The opened gift of Christ at
Christmas is not a one size fits all experience; it is a reciprocal gift that teaches, develops, and
matures us. So, as we grow into our gifts, we too can encourage others to accept and open the
Christ gift, one that we continually grow into and never grow out of.

Prayer: Gracious father, as we open the gift of Christ we thank you that He is everything that we
never had or even thought to ask for. He is our joy, peace and love, and we thank you for the
privilege to grow in this life and in each other. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
