“But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.”

Life On Wings
The cry for “wings” is as old as humanity. Our souls were made to “soar on wings.” The clue is contained in the scripture “those who hope in the Lord.”
Yet even in our uncertainty, we walk in the presence of the holy God who is far more interested in our honesty, than our piety. We have only to offer him a willing heart and truthful spirit. He will change it from the soul that hopes in the Lord to the soul that is entirely surrendered to him and trusts him perfectly.
Therefore, we might rename our wings from the “wings of surrender” to the “wings of trust.” If we surrender ourselves, utterly to the Lord and trust him perfectly, we shall find our souls “soaring on wings” to the heavenly place in Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to bless the lives of my family and friends. Shine your love through my life, that I may be a beacon of your light. Help me to glorify you, Lord, in all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Advent 2022
We invite you to join us during the Advent season as we reflect on the virtues of Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love; as we anticipate Christ's birth; and prepare our hearts to receive him.
Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you as we prepare.
Read along with us each day or download the book to read and reflect along with us offline.
