Advent 2022: Digital Advent Booklet

Foreword

To God Be the Glory!

Two Thousand Twenty-two

Advent is a season of anticipation and preparation for the coming of a baby who would become our savior, Jesus Christ. We pay homage to Mary and Joseph for accepting, by faith, a child destined to be the moral and just compass for the world.

This year has brought issues that stirred us to call on our faith and strength to meet the challenges confronting us. The issues of ongoing wars and rumors of wars, election concerns, COVID-19 and its omicron variant, booster vaccinations, injustices, the homeless, violence, inflation and personal concerns are all pressing us to seek and pray for community and worldwide solutions.

This booklet is a reflection of the emotions and concerns written by members and friends of Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church. The scriptures, thoughts and prayers of each writer come from a range of perspectives and emotions. Each testimony reflects the writer’s personal feelings and experiences. Advent helps us to focus on the blessings of Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love that keep us going not just at this time but throughout the year.

We welcome Advent, believing and trusting that God is with us.

We invite you to use this booklet as a daily devotional. Join us in sharing the love of Christ at Advent and through all seasons of the year.

Joy to the World!

Advent 2022

We invite you to join us during the Advent season as we reflect on the virtues of Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love; as we anticipate Christ's birth; and prepare our hearts to receive him.

Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you as we prepare.

Read along with us each day or download the book to read and reflect along with us offline.
