Advent 2022: Count It All Joy by Leila Kendrick

“The Joy of the Lord is My Strength”

Advent Day 15

Count It All Joy

Advent is a season filled with many reasons to treasure and commemorate, the greatest reason of all to me is the feeling of joy. As disciples of Christ, we are taught to give thanks and be joyful in all seasons; even in times of hardship and difficulty. In the Advent season, Jesus is the joy that reminds us of the importance of sharing the Christ story. We recognize the blessings of being called a child of God and thank God for sharing His greatest joy with us.

As we reflect on our lives, we should take time to find even more reasons to rejoice. As children of the most high, we can rewind our memories to identify past joy and seize joy in the present; always remaining hopeful for joy in the future.

Joy and faith anchor our presence, and, in all circumstances, we have the option to be joyful. The joy of Jesus gives us strength.

Prayer: Father, we pray that you continue to fill us with the joy of your spirit. Help us to see joy not only in this season of Advent but help us to see Jesus in ALL that we encounter in all seasons. Amen.

Advent 2022

We invite you to join us during the Advent season as we reflect on the virtues of Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love; as we anticipate Christ's birth; and prepare our hearts to receive him.

Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you as we prepare.

Read along with us each day or download the book to read and reflect along with us offline.
