“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
- John 1:1
Advent Day 29
December 25, 2022
Christmas Day
Grateful for the Gift
Jesus’s birth was foretold, predicted, and recorded hundreds of years before that historic night in Bethlehem. Isaiah 7:14 prophesied, “Behold a virgin shall conceive by the Holy Spirit and bear a son and His name will be Emmanuel.” [God with us]
Thus, this was all done to fulfill the prophesy. Before a baby is born, they are such a wonderful mystery. According to Jeremiah 1:5 “Before, I created you in your mother’s womb, I knew you.” What questions did Mary have as she prepared to meet her son for the first time? What questions did she have as she welcomed the Baby Jesus? What anxieties did Mary and Joseph feel when the birth of their son was announced by angels? What was the reaction to their blind faith?
We are to accept, with blind faith, that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. His birth was for us. It is a demonstration of God’s Love.

Prayer: Thank you, Father for your love, the blind faith of Mary and the birth of Jesus-the Christ Child. Amen.
Advent 2022
We invite you to join us during the Advent season as we reflect on the virtues of Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love; as we anticipate Christ's birth; and prepare our hearts to receive him.
Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you as we prepare.
Read along with us each day or download the book to read and reflect along with us offline.
