“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here.”

Embracing the Change
This has been one of the best years of my life! Though challenging with all of the new norms associated with the pandemic, the Lord allowed me to take the time needed to strengthen my relationship with Him and learn so much about myself in the process.
It’s hard not to consider the way things used to be. I miss the fellowship at Metropolitan, seeing the beautiful faces and feeling the love through our embraces. I miss my children being able to be children without the nervousness about who they come into contact with. I miss not wearing masks and the list goes on and on.
The Lord sent me 2 Corinthians 5:17 one morning during devotion when I was caught up in the inadequacies I felt about my performance in the gym. I realized I had been focusing on what was, instead of embracing what is and this message needed to be applied to my whole outlook.
God sent us His son because we needed a Savior. We needed Him to walk among us and show us how to love, how to serve and how to be a light for others. His coming was a change that brought excitement then and brings excitement now, knowing that we can count on Him to continue saving us and work through us to save the world.
Whether it be advocating for racial justice, offering a donation to someone in need, organizing community events or just letting someone know they are loved. We have all we need even though the future looks a little different. The old has gone and the new has come. Let’s embrace the change and live like Jesus!
Prayer
Dear God. We thank you for this change. Help us to be grateful for all the hidden miracles in it and walk every new step with you.

Advent 2021
Join us in a time of reflection, expectation, and contemplation during the season of Advent 2021.
Each day a new reflection with a scripture and prayer will be posted on the Metropolitan AME Church website and social media to encourage you to hear the words of those reflecting, anticipating, and contemplating with you in community as we thank God for what God has done, notice what God is actively doing and anticipate what God will do next.
Read along with us each day or download the book to read and write along with us offline.
